Life on Amami Oshima is filled with joy,
warmth, and peace. The land and the elements nourish its people with humility
and inner strength. The surrounding ocean provides food and nurtures their
traditions.
This was our third visit and we have rekindled friendships and our aloha for the
land and the beauty of life. The light of our July mornings there were fresh,
clear, and invigorating. The cool sea awoke our senses, cleansing both spirit
and soul.
Makoto and Yukie are friends with the biggest smiles. Their children exemplify
the happiness of the country life. Their cooking filled us with some of the best
memories! If driving along the East side near the surf spots, you must stop by
their Rainbow Café truck and indulge.
Arigatogozaimashita to all of our friends on Amami for a fantastic time! Your
hospitality, smiles and generosity will be remembered always. We are grateful to
you for sharing your home, your traditions and your island with us.
A special mahalo to Mugen, Kurenai and Hayato for extending the warmest care!
The unique character of the Banyan Tree Village has touched us beyond words. We
look forward to sharing time again with all of you.
